Loft Conversion
Walthamstow, London
14 Weeks
The client wanted to arrange a two-pronged home improvement project for their four-bedroom semi-detached house in Walthamstow. Not only would the property be extended, its loft would be converted — allowing for a much larger amount of usable space.
A six-metre rear extension would be built for the kitchen. Meanwhile, bi-folding doors were to be added to the property, meaning that occupants would more easily be able to open it up to the outside world.
While on the subject of the outside world, an annexe building was also earmarked for construction in the back of the property’s garden. For our team, the complete project would take 14 weeks overall to finish.
This project naturally involved a lot of preparatory work, including digging the foundation for the extension and making a party wall agreement. However, we were soon busy outside with laying garden paving, carrying out front pointing and installing skylights.
Inside, we added new insulation and steel flooring as well as a staircase that would lead to the transformed loft. Through undertaking a loft dormer conversion, we created an L-shaped loft and fitted a bathroom and wooden flooring inside it.
On the outside of the property, we also installed a flat roof and dormer tiles — meaning that visitors to this property would quickly be able to garner a positive impression of it from nearby Walthamstow streets.
